Wattle & Daub Repair – The Fat Duck, Bray (2016)

In 2016, we repaired a section of daub at The Fat Duck, Bray, carefully replacing only the daub between the original oak framework. Using authentic materials — lime, clay, straw, and horsehair — the repair was made to match the historic construction. The restored section is now displayed behind glass, allowing visitors to admire the original oak beams alongside the traditional daub infill, highlighting the building’s craftsmanship and heritage.
